WHO WE ARE, WHAT WE DO
The CEMC
The Czech Environment Management Center (CEMC) is an association of experts companies, entrepreneurs, universities. It was founded in 1992 with the aim of spreading knowledge about environmental management within Czech industry. Right from the start CEMC has had close links with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of the Environment. CEMC´s mission is to contribute to the reduction of risks to the environment posed by industrial and other activity while at the same time helping to improve the efficiency of business. CEMC functions both as a source of information about sustainable development, eco-efficiency and as a catalyst assisting the introduction of environmental management and other voluntary activities in industry.
CEMC in a member of WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development, ICC (International Chamber of Commerce), INEM (International Network for Environmental Management) and ViiM (Alliance for Interdisciplinary and International Management).
CEMC and it´s members carry out demonstration projects, organize training and commercial activities.

CEMC functions as the secretariat of this club.
Membership of CEMC is open to all that accept the basic principle of CEMC - the importance of integrating environmental management in every aspect of their activity.
Associate membership, limited to one or more programs, is also possible.
How does CEMC work
CEMC operates through committees and special teams includes specialist from its members and associated consultants. CEMC has a small professional staff supporting the work of the committees and initiate new activities in the field of environmental management.
CEMC is always seeking new ways to help its members with their business problems. It is done by:
- Identifying the problems affecting its members on micro- and macro-level
- Identifying the needs for solving the problems of industrial ecology and for businesses,
- Lobbying - conveying the opinions of industry to the policymakers in government
- Holding conferences, round tables discussion on interesting topics (about the combined effects of the new tax and environmental laws on the environmental and economic functioning of companies)
- Maintaining contacts with many foreign organizations in the fields of business, government and finance
- Keeping a library containing examples of companies environmental promotions
- Translating and publishing important works in field of environmental management and eco-efficiency
- Caring out demonstration case studies that can be used in other businesses in the same branch
- Organizing national and international study visits with the aim of learning how production plants deal with the problems of environmental management, what the results of their activities on the environment are and how governments and the public react to them. .
